Our PI Prof. Davronzhon Gaipov participated in the International Conference on Aspects of Language Teaching and Learning (ICALTL - 24), held on 12th-13th December 2024 in Al Rayyan, Qatar, where he presented his work titled "Holistic View to English Medium Instruction (EMI): A Case from Kazakhstan," offering valuable insights into EMI practices and challenges in Kazakhstan.

Project PI Dr. Davronzhon Gaipov has participated in the 21st AILA 2024 World Congress with a paper on developing a holistic approach in the provision of EMI at institutional and instructional levels (11-16 August 2024).
The AILA 2024 World Congress in Kuala Lumpur is a landmark event marking 60 years of the International Association of Applied Linguistics. This prestigious gathering, held from August 11-16, 2024, brought together over 1,600 delegates from around 70 countries to celebrate a trilogy of congresses highlighting AILA’s six decades of contributions to the field.

Our research fellow Danara Raikhanova delivered a presentation titled "Empowering Interactive Learning: Combining AI-powered online platforms for engaging English language Educational Activities" at the BALEAP Professional Issues Meeting held on June 1st, 2024, at Nazarbayev University, Astana, Kazakhstan. Her talk focused on using AI-powered platforms to enhance English Medium Instruction (EMI) by creating interactive and engaging lessons. Participants gained insights into AI tools to improve language learning, content delivery, and student engagement in EMI classrooms.

Our research team had the privilege of attending the ELINET conference focused on English Medium Instruction (EMI), where we shared our latest findings and engaged in inspiring discussions with leading scholars and practitioners from around the world. It was held on July 3-4, 2025, at the Department of Education, University of Oxford. We showcased our work on EMI implementation, specifically, we presented the research findings titled "EXPLORING THE NEXUS OF AGE, SUBJECT EXPERTISE AND LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY: CHALLENGES ENCOUNTERED AT ORGANIZATIONAL LEVEL AT EMI UNIVERSITIES IN KAZAKHSTAN".

This experience not only enabled us to present our research and build valuable international partnerships but also inspired us to further contribute to the advancement of multilingual approaches in higher education.

Prominent speakers included Juldyz Smagulova (KIMEP), Jim McKinley (University College London), Gulnissa Zhunussova (KIMEP), and Bridget Goodman (Nazarbayev University). The event featured a roundtable discussion, where our PI Davronzhon Gaipov presented preliminary research findings on lecturers' attributes and practices to facilitate EMI provision.

WORKSHOPS
"Enhancing collaboration for effective EMI support" workshop was conducted on the 19th of April 2024 in SDU. It was organized by "Language. Culture.Communication" faculty research center after Z.K.Akhmetzhanova, directed by SDU associate professor S.Tulepova. Speakers were the research team members Karabayeva A., Korzhinbayeva A., Raikhanova D. in collaboration with D.Yussupova, lecturer of SDU University.
"The Basics of SPSS data analysis: how to start" workshop was conducted on the 2nd of April 2024 in SDU. It was organized by "Language. Culture.Communication" faculty research center named after Z.K.Akhmetzhanova, directed by SDU associate professor S.Tulepova. Speaker: Bekturova Madina, junior research fellow of the project.
