Pre-Test Assessment

We started the semester with a collaboratively-designed Pre-Test Assessment to gauge our students' perceived skills in doing scholarly and popular research, as well as working with online tools.

Questions we asked

  1. Rate your skill level with locating relevant scholarly books and articles on a given topic, using the SDSU Library search engine (library.sdsu.edu)?
  2. Rate your skill level with locating reliable videos, museum collections, and other research materials on the wider web, using internet search engines (such as google)?
  3. Rate your skill level with digital collaboration and communication, via Googledocs and other media platforms (twitter, facebook, etc.)?
  4. Rate your skill level with HTML coding?
  5. Rate your skill level with digital visualization tools, such as TimelineJS, StoryMaps, Onodo, etc.?

And we also asked some basic demographic information about class year and major.
