Pre-Test Assessment
We started the semester with a collaboratively-designed Pre-Test Assessment to gauge our students' perceived skills in doing scholarly and popular research, as well as working with online tools.
Questions we asked
- Rate your skill level with locating relevant scholarly books and articles on a given topic, using the SDSU Library search engine (library.sdsu.edu)?
- Rate your skill level with locating reliable videos, museum collections, and other research materials on the wider web, using internet search engines (such as google)?
- Rate your skill level with digital collaboration and communication, via Googledocs and other media platforms (twitter, facebook, etc.)?
- Rate your skill level with HTML coding?
- Rate your skill level with digital visualization tools, such as TimelineJS, StoryMaps, Onodo, etc.?
And we also asked some basic demographic information about class year and major.
