Field of Research
Studies of the interstellar medium in radio galaxies:
Mass dependency, space distribution and dynamics within elliptical galaxies (luminosity, rotation, environment).
Origin of the gas in the host elliptical galaxies.
Relationship between the molecular gas and the nuclear activity in radio galaxies.
Study of the interstellar medium of isolated galaxies.
Study of the radio source distribution in the TGSS sample.
Study of the minima timing of the eclipses of the low mass binary star system CM-Draconis.
Cohort 2026–2028 (Planned): Invited Lecturer in Astronomy and Cosmology for Master’s students specializing in Physics Education, School of Physics, Faculty of Sciences, Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD), Dominican Republic.
2024: Spring semester Astronomy 101 Lecturer. Department of Astronomy at San Diego State University (SDSU), San Diego, California, USA.
2021 - Present: Adjunct Professor in the Astronomy Department of San Diego State University (SDSU)
2013: During my Post-Doctorate position in CAUP, I participated as a teacher in the Portuguese Astrocamp 2013. I taught a 15 hour class called: "Remote observations with MONET telescope".
2012-2014: Post-doctorate position at Centro de Astrofísica da Universidade do Porto (CAUP) in Porto,Portugal.
2011-2012: Post-doctorate in the National Center for Radio Astronomy (NCRA) in Pune, India.
2006-2010: Support Astronomer at the Institute of Milimetric Radio Astronomy: IRAM, while working on my PhD.
• 2024–2025: Curriculum advisor for Physics program revision: Advised the revision of the undergraduate Physics curriculum at UASD. Officially approved by
University Council Resolution 2025-180 (September 11, 2025), School of Physics, Faculty of Sciences.
• 2024: Development of Space Sciences undergraduate curriculum (UASD): Designed competency-based undergraduate courses in Astronomy, Astronomy Laboratory, Positional Astronomy, and Astrophysics. These courses were developed as a specialized Space Sciences track for Physics, Atmospheric Sciences, and Geophysics degree programs at UASD. School of Physics, Faculty of Sciences, Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD), Dominican Republic. (Astronomy, Astrophysics, Laboratory courses)
• 2024: IAU–OAE Teacher Training Program in Astronomy (TTP Grant) Contributed as NAEC team member to an international teacher training initiative
in Astronomy for university instructors preparing future secondary school teachers in Mathematics and Physics Education. The program was funded by the International Astronomical Union Office of Astronomy for Education (IAU–OAE). Implemented at theInstituteofPhysics, UASD(August–December2024), withatotalbudgetof€1,500
• 2023: Graduate Curriculum Development in Astronomy and Cosmology. Designed a competency-based graduate course in Astronomy and Cosmology as a
core requirement for the Master's in Physics Education program at UASD. School of Physics, Faculty of Sciences, Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD), Dominican Republic.
2010: PhD at the Institute of Milimetric Radio Astronomy (IRAM), in Granada, Spain. The topic of my PhD: Interstellar Medium in Nearby Elliptical Radio Galaxies.
2006: MAster thesis in the Instituto Astrofísico de Canarias (IAC). Topic: The minimum timming method for the low mass eclipsing binary sistem CM-Draconis. (Here you can see the publication of this work)
2003: Bachelors Degree in Astronomy and Astrophysics from Florida Institute of Technology (FIT).
Additional Training
2026: Certified Virtual Tutoring Course, Communication for Virtual Learning Environments: 14-hour training in pedagogical and technological competencies for virtual tutoring, including academic support, educational communication, and the use of digital platforms for online teaching at the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo.
