Motivation-Based Analysis
The interactive dashboard is created using Tableau and illustrates a bubble chart, where the size and depth of the color indicate the count of hate crimes, and a map that shows the number of mental well-being facilities in each state through the size of the circle. The data can be filtered on Year, which ranges from 2015 to 2020, and on Motivation for Hate Crime.
Bubble Chart: The chart will illustrate the size of the bubble by the count of hate crimes in that particular state. It is through this chart that we have found that Ohio has the highest number of hate crimes motivated by disability, while Michigan has the highest number of hate crimes motivated by gender.
Map: The State-based Map shows the count of Medical Centers through the size of the circle. The depth of the color will indicate the relative count of hate crimes in the state. Through this map, we can identify that certain regions have a high number of hate crimes motivated by a single cause. This helps us in identifying the overall environment associated with that particular motivation for a hate crime.
