My name is Alija Hunter. I'm a second year Finance major at SDSU from the Bay Area, CA. I came to SDSU as a Computer Engineering major, but switched to Finance halfway into my Freshman year of college. I present myself to you with expertise in Excel systems and financial allocations. I am currently enrolled and completing in my major related courses so the information I have experience in applying is fresh in my mind prepared to be put to use.
I am from a city called Santa Rosa, located 45 minutes North of San Francisco. I have two younger siblings and we have all played both soccer and basketball my whole life. I enjoy hanging out with my friends, family, playing board games and listening to music. I also have a passion for clothing and shoes.
Sales Associate:
While working at Champs, I was able to get my customer service experience up, while also obtaining leadership experience. I was part of a team of eight employees, with a maximum working number of five at a time including managers. My managers would often leave and my co-workers would take breaks so I was tasked with running the floor and directing traffic on frequent equations.
Auto Body Shop Boy:
While working at the auto body shop, I began as just a shop boy. I was cleaning up after dirty old men working cars, whether it was in the warehouse, the lunch room, or even outside. I was upgraded to washing and detailing cars which I did for the majority of my time working there. However, I finished my time there assisting the assistant manager with Financial allocations and organizing their spending on my free time. The manager himself was busy at his other shop, so the Assistant had to fill his shoes, which left me to pick up the slack for the assistant, which happened to be an assignment that benefited me and potentially jumpstart my career.
Food Bank Volunteer:
While working at the volunteer center, I didn't do much financial assistance as my main job was to serve food and translate because the majority of those we helped were hispanic while the volunteers were caucasian with no expertise in speaking Spanish. However, the woman who ran the shift we worked was older and didn't know how to use electronics so it was my job to help her organize all decisions on a sheet of Excel paper whether it was a decision we made during the shift or a financial decision so it could be presented to her superiors in an orderly-fashion.
