Wednesday 10/1- substitute
Log Onto Collegeboard and complete Section 2.11 Quiz (please have academic integrity, aka Don’t cheat!)
Max Cohen (or in his absence the next tallest person) will use the smart board to pull up this video from the course website so you can all watch it together:
Inside the Living Cell (3 min)
After that video plays, watch the same video WITH COMMENTARY (awesome!) (7 min)
Then as a class watch: Cell City Analogy Video (8 min)
The shortest person in class will then come up with a place (for example: Amusement Park, Cafeteria, Super Market, Walmart, etc). Then the class will pass around the beach ball and create cell analogies. Whatever organelle your right thumb lands on is your organelle. (example: If I catch the beach ball and my right thumb is on Nucleus and the analogy is super market then I could say “In a super market the nucleus would be the manager because they are in charge and direct everyone as to what to do”)
You will be creating a Children’s Book using cell analogies. You can work with one other person if you want to. You can look over samples. You have the rest of class time to work on Children's Book
Homework: Work on Children's Book (due 10/8) and Chapter 6 is due 10/6

2.1 and 2.2 - Cell Structure: Subcellular Components, and Cell Structure and Function Video (12 min)
Cell Organelles (you got this worksheet in class Tuesday) and complete with your lab partner (one paper per person. Collaborative effort, but you each need your own sheet.
Sample Answer for the first one to model how I want this done:
Nucleus and ribosomes
“The nucleus store DNA which are used as blueprints for creating proteins. These blueprints are transcribed to mRNA and that copy is sent to the ribosomes for them to use to create the corresponding proteins.”
Open this google doc: Cell Types Activity, make yourself a copy and complete digitally. Be prepared to submit if asked for it on Monday.
