From Journeys... Journeys 2017 is a research-based comprehensive literacy program which engages and inspires students by using authentic text and differentiated instruction.
Each unit begins with a “big picture” topic. Students respond to the topic through critical thinking activities.
Within each unit, students use authentic text to practice and apply key skills and strategies. The literature reflects diverse cultures, content, text structure and formats. Text is read three times (I do, we do, you do), allowing students to dig for deeper understanding. Students read multiple texts of various genres to build content knowledge, and compare texts. Students apply their knowledge through writing, research and discussion activities.
Each lesson includes general academic and domain-specific vocabulary. Interactive spelling and grammar lessons allow students to practice through speaking and writing tasks.
Writing assignments cover the narrative, informative and opinion modes

We will have three units of study this year:
Earth and Sun
Energy Unit that includes Magnetism & Electricity
