Top Ten Tips HERE
Homework For Our Class:
Homework is your thinking work! It reinforces what we are learning in class. Homework should not take more than 40 minutes per night for our fourth grade class and usually much less. ***If you have a note from a parent explaining that you worked for 40 minutes or why you could not do an assignment, then you are excused from the homework.
Each night you are to:
-Complete Math homework (usually 6 problems)
-Read for 20 minutes- I do not suggest using a timer, but more so just build a daily reading habit- it increases fluency, vocabulary & comprehension more than any other work!
-You can read to yourself or aloud to a family member, pet or friend.
-Call a grandparent on the phone and read aloud to him/her.
-Record yourself reading and listen to it back!
-Have a parent read one page to you and you read one page to them.
Make it fun! Enjoy it! Explore a new world. Read about your favorite subjects.
Each week you are to:
-Practice your math facts. Use Xtramath once we are set up. Fact fluency in all operations is crucial work to success in 4th grade math. I promise you will thank me come January when our math rigor increases! I cannot stress this enough.
Periodically you will:
-Have class projects to complete
