Welcome to Mrs. Garner's Second grade class!

I'm so excited to have your child in my second grade class at PGE! We will learn together, grow together, and take care of one another—just like family. Here's to a year full of laughter, learning, and memories made in our “Home Sweet Classroom!” 

Meet the Teacher:

My name is Mary Catherine Garner. This will begin my 14th year of teaching. I have spent time teaching fifth, second, and first grades.  This is my 7th year at PGE.  I received my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Clemson University (Go Tigers!) and my Master's Degree in Education from Southern Wesleyan University.  I also became certified in Early Childhood education in 2023.  Most recently in 2024, I earned my English for Speakers of Other Languages endorsement.  

I have been married to my husband Jason for 18 years and we have four children together.  Cooper is 16, Christian is 15, Cohen is 14, and Clara Cate is 12. When I am not teaching, you'll find us outdoors hunting for critters--snakes, lizards, bugs--or the ball fields and basketball courts.  I also love cheering on my favorite teams: Clemson Tigers, Atlanta Braves, and the San Francisco 49ers! 

I am looking forward to  having a fantastic journey together!
