Meet the Teacher

Hello! My name is Brandy Whitesides, and this is my 25th year teaching 2nd grade at Pomaria-Garmany Elementary. Teaching is truly my passion, and I love watching my students grow in confidence, curiosity, and kindness.

I earned my undergraduate degrees in Sociology and Early Childhood Education from the University of South Carolina, followed by a graduate degree in Early Childhood Education from USC. I also hold a Masters Plus 30 in Reading from Converse College. I achieved National Board Certification in 2005 and proudly renewed my certification in 2015.

I have been married to my husband, Kevin, for 24 years. We have a 16-year-old son named Grant and a sweet Labrador named Sadie who keeps us smiling.

In my free time, I love to read, walk with friends, spend time at the lake, and travel with my family. I’m looking forward to another year of learning, laughter, and success with my students!
