Dear Parents and Students-

Thank you for reviewing the Career Planning website and Course Description Guide. It's essential that each student carefully selects courses that align with their future goals. Equally important is the involvement of parents in this process. This guide provides both recommended and required courses for each grade level, along with detailed descriptions of all offerings at Ladysmith High School.

The courses you choose in high school lay the groundwork for future success, both academically and in life after graduation. These decisions are significant and should be made thoughtfully. We encourage families to discuss course options together and consult with guidance counselors, teachers, or administrators if you have any questions.

It's also important to understand that the classes students select will directly influence the master schedule. This includes determining which courses are offered, the number of sections, and staffing. Once a class is chosen, it is a commitment, and changes are difficult to make after the master schedule is finalized due to potential conflicts and limited space in other classes. Schedule changes will only be considered for the following reasons:

The student…

-Failed a course that needs to be repeated before they can move on the next course in a sequence.

-Needs a course to meet graduation requirements.

-Was placed in an incorrect class and/or has not met the prerequisites for a class.

-Was placed in a class due to a schedule conflict.

-Any other schedule change requests will be evaluated by the guidance counselor and/or school administration based on any -extenuating circumstances and course availability.

If you have any questions about the scheduling process or course selections, please contact Student Services.
