Competencies/ Course Completion (Last Updated 12/18/24)
Q: Must students complete all competencies in one semester or can they return for another semester to complete?
A: Students must complete all of the competencies in order to receive course completion. If it takes more than 1 semester to complete, taking the same course the following semester is recommended.
Considering an "I" (incomplete) will stay on a student's transcripts forever. Instructors have been recommended to give students a letter grade such as "C" and "not satisfied".
Q: Are students allowed to continue to the next semester of a course if they have already satisfied/completed the competencies associated with the course?
A: Yes - with the stipulation that there is room in the class, though this is not recommended. The returning student cannot take the place of a new student wanting course completion.
Students are highly encouraged to take the next course in their career pathway to make progress toward earning a program certificate. Students are encouraged to review course options on the Child Development Pathways Chart and discuss goals with their counselor.
Canvas (Last Updated 12/18/24)
Q1. What is the best way to save the course data for our future use (to use offline) and will the Canvas material always be accessible to me in future?
A1. Canvas course material will not always be accessible to you, typically becoming inaccessible on the last day of the semester. Students are suggested to save your work offline throughout the semester in a file or within the google document template offered to you in many child development courses. As always, obey copyright laws regarding reproduction, distribution or modification for the information presented may be the intellectual property of your instructor, the institution, or a third party.

Release of Student Information:
Student privacy is our priority. The office cannot release any information about the student, even to an instructor, without a signed release of information. The only exception to this is the student contact list which has been approved by the District Office.
If a student wants information released to a particular instructor, a Release of Information would need to be signed by the student and scanned to us along with the photo ID. Please have the student contact Student Services and we will send them the form.
Verification of enrollment and transcripts
Students can print out their current class schedule online to provide to agencies for verification of enrollment. If there is a form that needs to be filled out by an agency the student will need to submit a Student Help Ticket and upload the form along with the signed Release of Information and a copy of their official picture ID. The form will be returned completed within 5 business days.
Students may also request transcripts, but we are only compiling a list of students and are not processing transcripts at this time. The Student Services team is working on how they will be able to process these requests.
