What is Phonology?
Phonology is the study of sounds and the way they come together to form speech and words.
What are some examples of phonology activities?
Rhymes, riddles, songs, and poems
Matching pictures to pictures, pictures to written letters, pictures to words
Highlight phonological awareness concepts in stories and texts
Activities that focus on awareness of syllables and sound positions in words (Is it at the beginning, middle, or end of a word?)
Segmenting and blending sounds in words
Manipulating sounds in words (Take the "h" off of hat and add an "m", what word do you have now? Mat)
