Find her selections on the shelves!
Whenever new tech comes to the library, we have to test it! Does it work? How does it compare to past technology? How will we show other people how to use it?

ELA Teacher/ in-house 3D Printer guru, Mr. Bean and Library Assistant, Mrs. Tomlinson hosted a day of 3D printing in the library. There were six 3D printers humming along making a variety of prints chosen by students.
Student Nyx advocated for the installation of the free 3D modeling program Blender and attempted to teach library staff how to navigate it.

Student Council, Makerspace Tech & Design students, and other student leaders set up the sound, stage lighting and decorations for the 2024 Homecoming Dance. All the equipment came from the band department, library and staff!
Our Student Technical Assistant helps troubleshoot, maintain and repair Library and Makerspace technology in exchange for .5 credits.
Awaynah Powless, AHS '24, made a unique project for her Makerspace Tech & Design final. She used Procreate to make 20 custom designs as well as a cover and intro page for a coloring book, "Ojibwe Florals". The book was then published through Barnes & Noble and purchased by staff and community!
AHS has many Ojibwe students who make beadwork for their regalia and with their help the library has purchased beading supplies for the Makerspace! Here is an example of Sheva's very first lanyard made under Marcus R.'s guidance.

Mrs. Naas' Veterinary Science class makes custom illustrations showing their favorite dog breeds. The illustrations are then printed on coffee mugs.
Sheva commissioned a large hanging mobile for the library from Mr. Vittone's Welding & Fabrication class.

Students learn how to transfer paper and pencil drawing to graphic design and animation programs, Procreate and Procreate Dream.

Students meet twice weekly to play Baaga'adowewin (traditional Ojibwe lacrosse) at the high school and middle school. Students use the library Cricut machines to make stickers for their friends and mentors.
Student Library Assistants, otherwise known as a "Library Page," helps shelve books and assists in day-to-day library activities in exchange for .5 credits.
Students use the library sewing machine to work on projects such as ribbon skirts, jingle dresses and keychains.
Students are able to check out and request vocal music books, such as "The First Book Tenor Solos" in order to prepare for yearly Solo & Ensemble competitions.
The Dungeon and Dragons "Player's Handbook" and other related gaming titles await the AHS after-school gaming club. These world-building books support the students as they embark on quests together!
