SEL
What is SEL?
SEL stands for Social-Emotional Learning. Social-Emotional Learning is the process of self-management, responsible decision making, self-awareness, social awareness, and relationship skills. Social-Emotional Learning is when “children acquire and effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make relationships”(CASEL, 2021). With gratitude and mindfulness strategies, students can manage their emotions to achieve positive goals. Click on the pictures below to learn more about each strategy.
Growth Mindset
"Individuals who believe their talents can be developed (through hard work, good strategies, and input from others) have a growth mindset. They tend to achieve more than those with a more fixed mindset (those who believe their talents are innate gifts)" (Dweck, 2016) Click to learn more about how to promote a growth mindset.
Zones of Regulation
The Zones of Regulation are skills that help students recognize and regain their behavior. Recognizing your emotions and behavior can lead to increased independence, control, and problem-solving skills.
