Meet the Teacher

Mr. Charles Moreland is so excited to be your child's sixth grade math teacher. This is his 25th year teaching. He has an Elementary Education degree from Chicago State University with math, social studies, ELA, and middle school endorsements. He also has a Master's Degree from Concordia University in Education Leadership with a teacher leader endorsement. He has taught middle school math for most of his teaching career, and has served as an administrator as well.

Sixth grade is a special year, as we prepare students to be responsible individuals ready for life as a 7th grader and beyond. Mr. Moreland believes parents and teachers are partners in a child's education. This will be his first year teaching at Westchester Intermediate School, he is super-excited and knows that this community is amazing and he's so lucky to be apart of this special school district.

For over 20 years, Mr. Moreland has taught middle school math. His teaching career started on the south side of Chicago with the Chicago Public Schools. After 17 years in the inner-city, he continued his career in the south suburbs as a Dean of Students.

Mr. Moreland is an avid sports fan and plays golf, baseball, basketball, and football. He really enjoys watching sports and plays "Fantasty Football." He also travels quite a bit and has family in Texas, Arizona, and Atlanta. Mr. Moreland has three daughters and really enjoys spending time with them.
