"The curious paradox is when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change."
| Carl Rogers
Collaboratively, a number of health services involved professionals tried to identify barriers and challenges students may face when accessing health services in the Creston Valley. From this, the HUB was created at KRSS to provide additional health services, on site, during school hours, to assist high school students in the Creston Valley to access health care professionals they may not be able to meet with otherwise.
KRSS and the outside agencies work collectively to provide space and work together to meet the needs of students. Usually, the HUB operates on Wednesday and Thursday morning from approximately 9am to noon. On these days, an additional outside agency counsellor and a doctor are available for students to make appointments with. There is a sign-up book in the counselling area that students can use to indicate whether they would like an appointment. If that doesn't work, students can also talk to the school counsellors and they can connect students with the HUB team.
