Dual Credit Programs

Dual credit is an excellent opportunity to earn high school graduation credits while also starting your post-secondary learning. Applying for the dual credit program requires pre-planning; ensuring that graduation requirements will be met, that attendance and work ethic indicate a commitment to your learning and research into your desired field is completed.

School District #81 has a learning partnership in place with Northern Lights College. If the program you wish to attend is not offered at NLC, then you are responsible to determine which school your program is offered at, and present that information to the career coordinator prior to application due dates. School District #81 will endeavour to partner with the post-secondary institution you request.

How to Apply

1. Meet early with the career coordinator to discuss your plan. During course selection, make sure you are thinking ahead to complete your graduation required courses.

2. Your attitude, work ethic, and knowledge of the career and program choice is an important aspect of your application that needs to be demonstrated consistently.

3. Complete the application package. On the program application page, answer all questions in full and complete sentences. The quality of your work matters.

4. Review your completed package with the career coordinator and request an interview time with your principal.

5. Complete the interview with your principal. If successful, the principal will sign off on your documentation and it will be forwarded to the District Principal for review and approval.

6. Your application will be submitted to the post-secondary institution by the school on your behalf. The application fee is to be paid by the applicant.
