Mr. Mac

What is MAC?

MAC (Movement-Activity-Conversation) is an evidence-based proactive and positive approach to classroom management. The goal of MAC is to develop a classroom of students who are responsible, motivated and highly engaged in meaningful tasks. MAC allows teachers to develop specific classroom expectations that are taught, modeled and reinforced throughout the school year. Movement helps teachers determine what movement is allowed during a specific activity or transition during the school day. Activity targets what students should be doing during this structured time. Conversation centers on what voice level students should be using during the specific activity. MAC is a template to support teachers in making decisions to create classroom structure.
