Hello First Grade Families!
My name is Sara Shapiro, and I am the Instructional First Grade Special Education Teacher at Middleton. I know how important forming relationships and getting to know each other are, so I wanted to let you know a little bit about myself!
I am beginning my fourth year of teaching and it is my third year at John Middleton Elementary. I was born and raised in Highland Park and currently live in Chicago. I have 1 brother named max and my parents have 3 dogs who I love to visit weekly.
I went to Indiana University for my Bachelor's degree in Youth Development and Family Studies. I continued my education at National Louis University where I obtained a Master's degree in Special Education. I also completed my ESL endorsement (English as Second Language) this summer. I am no stranger to the Skokie community as I have been traveling here for years to eat and spend time with family and friends. I love the rich diversity this community has to offer!
In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, traveling, trying new restaurants, hot yoga, rollerblading, and being active. I am looking forward to getting to know you and your child and partnering with you to have a successful school year together!
