DAILY LEARNING

WHAT MAKES A GOOD MATHEMATICIAN?

Good mathematicians are naturally curious, they persevere through challenging problems and setbacks.  They approach complex tasks with determination.  They will analyze problems, break them down, and work on creative strategies to find solutions.  They evaluate the validity of mathematical arguments and make logical deductions based on available information.  They frequently collaborate with peers, engage in discussion, and share ideas.  They can effectively communicate concepts and arguments, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.  We will all embrace a lifelong learning and growth mindset!

WHAT WILL LEARNING LOOK LIKE FOR 7TH GRADE MATH?

All lessons and materials will be pushed out to you via an online platform that you are already familiar with:  Google Classroom.  Through Google Classroom you will be directed to  Google Slides, Khan Academy, GOFormative, IXL, Prodigy, etc.

DAILY LESSONS

Google Classroom will be used to push out the daily assignments.  Here you will find the assignments, thero due dates, links to the lessons and any reference materials including the topic syllabus.  Please check the CLASSWORK tab at the top.

UNIT LONG-TERM LESSONS

Skills for the current module will be posted to Khan Academy at the beginning of the module.  They are usually due 2-3 days before the assessment.  A score of 70%  or higher is required to "complete" the skill.

Please take advantage of the hints and videos if you find yourself struggling.  If you need additional help beyond that, email me a SCREENSHOT and the NAME of the skill you are working on so I can send you feedback.

CHEK YOUR UNDERSTANDING PRACTICE

PRACTICE PROBLEMS will be posted to GOFormative.  In most cases, you will receive immediate feedback as to whether or not your solution is correct (some will need to be manually graded).  As in class, I would like for you to attempt the problems until you can get the correct solution.  Please make sure you are referencing the daily lesson for support and use the chat feature directly on the questions so I can provide feedback and direction to you.

SKILL PRACTICE

IXL is a way to strengthen your math skills and improve your fluency.  Skills will be assigned that correspond with current modules.  A SmartScore of 80 is required but you are encouraged to shoot for 100!

Students are welcome to explore any of the hundreds of other skills on their own.

ENRICHMENT

Prodigy questions have been aligned to IAR (Illinois Assessment of Readiness) practice questions so it will be cumulative of the whole year,  a good way to keep your math skills up!
