In this workshop, you will learn some approaches and skills to help create a more restorative classroom that builds everyone's capacity to respond to conflicts, disagreements, and other challenges at school. Presented by Restorative Justice Salt Spring - a local organization with a 25-year history of repairing the harm of conflict and crime in the community.
Walk over to Salt Spring Elementary's school gardens and tree plantings and practice educational activities together, discuss funding and community-collaboration opportunities, and share support with one another for these types of applied outdoor learning projects.

This workshop will focus on how juggling affects the brain, how circus can be applied to learning in general, how it can build confidence, connection and community. Wear comfortable athletic clothes if we have time for acro! I’ll also bring hula hoops.
In this workshop, Stacey will explore how to build resilience in students and us with REAL Tools.
This workshop will look at the importance of building the foundation of self-awareness, self-regulation, and self-esteem. As these three elements come together, they are the building blocks of emotional health. What are the obstacles? How do the practices of mindfulness help children and teachers achieve a calmer more productive classroom? A tested curriculum for young children is also offered to those who would like to explore mindfulness with their students.

Description: Walk over to the new circle of benches at the Indigenous Welcome Figure (by Quentin Harris) at the south end of the Hydro Field, along Rainbow Road. There, we will share books, lessons, and our experiences integrating Indigenous ways of knowing into student activities, such as the Native Plant garden and signage that is being created there. Learn more about local Indigenous partner organizations, language resources, and practices for forging new connections.

We will present tools and practices you can use to make digital sharing in your classroom clear and efficient. Using the Teams platform we will get hands-on experience creating a class, connecting students, sharing digital and traditional media, and creating assignments that meet the needs of all students (and you, too!).
