The class policies are based on the beliefs held by Lochside School that we will promote creativity, curiosity, critical thinking and compassion so that students can become socially responsible and resilient, life-long learners.
Schools begins at 8:38am and ends at 2:48pm.
We believe in encouraging a healthy lifestyle at Lochside. Along with daily physical activity, it is important that students eat healthy, nutritional snacks and meals. Please send healthy food in your child’s lunches. I would also encourage you to send a water bottle with your child to keep on their desk. Lunches and snacks are pack-in and pack-out- all recycling will be sent home for disposal.
Fidgets are welcome- as long as they are not disruptive to others (not noisy) and can be used to help with concentration, not as a distraction. Students may be asked to bring a fidget home if it is being a distraction to themselves or others. Items that need two hands to fidget become toys. Students are asked to leave toys and electronics at home.
Birthdays are special occasions for children. We will be celebrating your child in class (including half birthdays for those students who have birthdays in the summer). You are welcome to send treats in to celebrate your child's birthday, but please let me know if you are planning to do so.
If you choose to have a birthday party for your child this year, please know that invitations should not be handed out at school, as this can lead to hurt feelings. Please consider emailing the other child’s parents or phoning them.
