Hello! My name is Ashley Walker. This will be my 11th year at Lochside! We are going to have a year full of learning, fun, and new adventures.
I have the cutest dog ever!
Her name is Penny and she is a rescue dog, so I am not sure what kind she is. She is very shy, likes to stare at people, and likes it when it is quiet. She is very gentle and only barks when she wants to play, otherwise she is silent.
I have two Bachelor’s Degrees, one in Education and one in English, both from the University of Victoria. I also have a Master’s Degree in Teaching English as a Second Language from the University of British Columbia. I have been a teacher for 18 years!
I taught in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates, for 3 years, where it would sometimes get up to 60°C! I also taught up in Fort St John for a number of years, where it was sometimes -40°C.
I have travelled five of the world’s continents.
I love crafting: painting, knitting, drawing, sewing, pottery, and all things art related. I like to make my own clothes!
I have 3 brothers and happily, they all live in Victoria with their families.
I collect interesting teapots and all things elephant related.
I adore plants, especially tropical ones.
Baking is a passion of mine.
I absolutely love learning new things!
Here are several ways to communicate with me:
- Send me a note in your child’s agenda.
- Send me an Email. I will answer emails before school and after school, but am not able to answer emails during school and may not always be available to answer emails in the evenings or on weekends.
If you have a major concern or important information to share with me, please:
- Set up a meeting before or after school . I am available from 8-8:30 am before school, and from 3-3:30 most afternoons. My duty times may conflict with some days availability. Please know that if you need my full attention for more than 5 minutes, it would be best to set up an appointment.
-If you would like to talk to me “in person” but are reluctant to meet at school, I would be happy to set up an MSTeam meeting time with you for before or after school.
- Call the school to set up a phone call.
