This years Home Ec is bound to be a bit different.... but not as strange as last year, I hope! We are back to 4 terms of HomeEc.
OK. You need a sturdy cotton. It needs to be 1.25-1.5 meters. Ask The person there if you will be able to iron it, it needs to be able to take the heat. Make sure you also get a sturdy thread (either the same colour as material or contrasting if you are confident of your ability).
I usually have material available as well if you are unable to get to Fabric Land or the Cloth Castle.
Remember to take someone with a Fabric Land membership, or at least tell them you are from Royal Oak, they will give you a discount.
Do pick a fabric that withstands the gravy test--Ask Me...
Do pick a sturdy material that you can iron
Do pick a material that best represents who you are
Do use your manners and represent ROMS in the community
Do walk to the back of the store and look for the discount fabric!
Do not buy the most expensive material! You lose points for that!
We are making PJ's out of flannel If we are grade 7's.
You should have a good spool of thread (get a better brand of thread-- guttermann or as good)
You will also need some Material: 2.2-2.5 meters (depending on height), it may be a bit extra, but we can work with that. It should be a good quality flannel, but not stupid expensive...I had someone that once bought flannel that was $24 per meter...over $50 when all was said and done. That makes no sense. When I buy material I go right to the back of the store and look in the discounts first. It is the same material, usually they just don't have lots of it or it is last years patterns. Please once you get a sturdy nice quality flannel that doesn't cost too much take it home and wash it.
You also need to pick up a non-twist/non-role waist band, about an inch thick..
Aside from that I have you covered! If you just can't get away to get this stuff I will have some available, so talk to me!
If you go to fabricland please see if someone has a membership card in your family (lets you get the discounts) or tell them you are from ROMS for the minimum discount.
If you are in West shore...check out Cloth Castle...you don't need a card there and they are super friendly.
