Did you know you can sign into the Chrome web browser?
You can, and when you do, your settings, bookmarks, history, apps and extensions are all there regardless of what computer you are working on. This is a huge time-saver if you work on multiple computers and makes accessing your GAFE tools super easy.
Another Chrome fact: the url address bar (Omnibox) is also a Google Search bar - just type your search right there - no need to open the Google.com webpage. It can also do simple math and unit conversions amoung other things - try it!
Open Chrome
In the top right corner of the web browser you will see a little person - click here
Sign in using your GAFE Login
If you have logged in to Chrome before you will be asked if you would like to sync your data - select yes
Bookmarking is a convenient way to keep frequently visited websites (such as MyEd BC) just a click away.
To Bookmark a Website in Chrome:
Go to the website you want to bookmark
Click on the Ellipsis (3 Little Dots) in the top right corner of Chrome
Select Bookmarks > Bookmark this Page
Choose the Folder: Bookmark Bar (or other)
Click Done
Your bookmark should appear in the bookmark bar below the website address bar (Omnibox).
If your bookmark bar is not showing:
Click on the Ellipsis (3 Little Dots) in the top right corner of Chrome
Select Bookmarks > Show Bookmarks Bar
The Apps Icon is always located in the top Left of your Chrome browser
Click on this and you will see icons for Docs, Drive, YouTube, Gmail, Sheets, and Slides.
These are direct shortcut links to these GAFE products - just click and you’re there.
You can also add additional Apps (such as Google Classroom or Socrative) via the Chrome Web Store.
Click on the store and you will see hundreds of apps and extensions you can add to Chrome. Not sure the difference between Apps and Extensions? See this post!
Signing into Chrome will make you Google Drive accessible to anyone if it is left open.
Do NOT sign into Chrome on a public or shared computer.
This is not an issue on our school computers as they require you to log in with a district username and password. Your Chrome login and data will only sync when YOU are logged in.
