Socrative is a great tool that allows you to give formative assessments through quizzes, quick question polls, exit tickets and space races.
Socrative is extremely easy to use and works in any web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Explorer, Safari) and on any web enabled device (Smartphone, Tablet, Computer).
To get started using Socrative, register for a Socrative Teacher account using your GAFE account. Students can connect to your unique Socrative room by simply joining your room at socrative.com on any device - no student account log in required.
Check out the video on the right for a quick tour of what Socrative can do.
Go to socrative.com or add the Socrative Teacher App to Chrome
Select ‘Teacher Login’
Select ‘Sign in with Google’
Use your sd61learn.ca Google account to sign up (this will also let you sync data with Google Drive)
You will then be brought to the Launch Screen
Your Room Code will be displayed across the top of the screen
The Launch Screen is the first thing you will see when starting Socrative and the starting place for all assessments. There are 4 main assessment options described below.
This option lets you start a pre-made quiz from your quiz bank
See below for detailed instructions on creating your own quizzes.
Starts a quiz with the following preset questions to answer:
How well did you understand today's material?
What did you learn in today's class?
Please answer the teacher's question. - You would post this or verbally ask the class
Let’s you use quizzes in a Space ‘Race’ format
Allows you to post on the board or verbally ask a question to the class and they would answer via Socrative either in Multiple Choice, True/False, or Short Answer format
You would not have these questions stored in Socrative.

Show or Hide answers
You can also click on Each Question Number to see the responses to just those questions
The response chart is saved to your Socrative Account (can also be saved to Drive or downloaded)
To View: Go to Quizzes Tab > Reports > Select the Quiz
One of my favourite things to do with Socrative is review assessments with the class intermediately after they have completed them.
While viewing the response chart, select question #1 and project to the class
Click on the "How'd We Do?" button
Student responses will be displayed along with the correct answer as shown below
This is great for clearing up common misconceptions immediately with students
