Sometimes providing directions or delivering content is better explained using a visual. But what do you do when you can't quite find the right image or the image you have could use a little help? For example, maybe you would like to highlight something, add some extra text, or blur some irrelevant information out.
Thanks to the Awesome Screenshot Chrome Extension you can now do this quickly and easily with any image.
See my quick demo of Awesome Screenshot and its features in the video on the right.
Awesome Screenshot is a free screen capture and image annotation tool. It is a Chrome extension, or small software program that is added directly to your Chrome Web Browser. You can add Awesome Screenshot (and other extensions) through the Chrome Web Store .
First, in Google Chrome, find the image or item you want to use/annotate . If you would like to annotate an image saved on your computer, you will need to open Chrome first and choose the Select local image option to upload it.
Once you find your image, click on the Awesome Screenshot icon and choose one of the options described below.
Capture Visible Part of Page: this will capture everything visible on your screen (but not the entire webpage)
Delayed Capture: Captures your visible page after a 3 second countdown - this gives you time to do something, such as open a menu or move your mouse
Capture Selected Area: Takes a screenshot of an area you select by dragging a box around an item - Click Capture when complete
Capture Entire Page: This captures the entire webpage you are viewing, including what is not visible on your screen - Warning! This could be a huge image depending on the length of your webpage.
Select a local image: lets you take a screenshot and annotate an image you have saved on your computer
