District 54 has been an agency of Special Olympics Illinois since 1992. We provide year-round sports training and competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for students ages 3 and up with intellectual disabilities throughout our district. We focus not only on providing opportunities to develop physical fitness, but work on building social skills and friendship as well!
Beyond sports opportunities, District 54 Grizzlies also work within many of our schools through the Unified Champion Schools program. This program aims to foster relationships between students with and without disabilities in games, projects and unified sports.
