KMS is recognized as a “Schoolwide Title” school.  The Title program provides federal funds that support schools with high populations of low-income families.  At KMS, we address the needs of at risk learners through two specialized programs: Reading Enrichment; for students significantly behind Grade Level in Reading, and Math 180; for those students showing behind Grade Level abilities in mathematics. One important philosophy of support programs like these is diligent communication and involvement between all those who play a key role in a student’s learning at school.    

The following document is one method that KMS has chosen to use to promote these important components of student learning.  Reading and discussing this with your student is a good way to act upon your commitment to your student’s education at KMS.

Schoolwide Title Contract

Recognizing that student achievement is a partnership between the student, the family, and the school staff, we agree to work together to provide the best learning possible for all students.

KMS STAFF AGREEMENT 

We will support the learning of all students by: 

• Encouraging positive communication between teachers, parents and students

• Coordinating instruction with classroom teachers

• Helping students master skills that lead toward self-respect and academic success

PARENT/GUARDIAN AGREEMENT 

I will contribute to my student’s success by: 

• Working together with school staff to best support my student 

• Encouraging my student to be on time, and to attend school regularly 

• Striving to stay in open communication with both my student and the school 

• Encouraging my student to have a regular time and place for completing homework

STUDENT AGREEMENT 

I will work to the best of my ability by: 

• Taking ownership of my education 

• Attending school regularly, bringing needed materials, and actively engaging in class 

• Recognizing when I need help, asking for help, and paying attention to the instruction given 

• Using my daily planner to keep track of learning goals, assignments, and projects, and completing and returning them on time
