Guiding Questions:
My name is Joanne and I am a Grade 7 student at MPCS. I live in Whistler, B.C. and enjoy skiing, mountain biking, and trampoline.
Strengths: I am awesome at math, especially problem solving. I like to think in numbers.
Stretches: I am working on listening to others' ideas.
I need to work on my writing, my brain is always thinking and I have trouble getting the right words down.
I benefit from a quiet place to think. Sometimes I need to think a lot before I can work.
Strengths: I do yoga to benefit my brain and my body.
Stretches: I don't sit still very well. During school, I get really fidgety and have trouble keeping my focus. I can also get annoyed by other people.
I benefit from ... breaks during the school day so I like to leave the classroom sometimes. I also need to have a quiet space in the classroom to go sit by myself when I'm getting annoyed. I like to have something in my hands while I'm listening.
Strengths: I always try to remember to recycle things when I am done with them.
Stretches: I like to use my Swell bottle but I keep forgetting it so I need to remind myself.
I benefit from ... having the recycling boxes in different colours so I know where to put things.
I love to read and rock climb.
I also like animals. I have two silly cats named Billy and Tilly.
In school I like science the most. I especially like studying about animals and insects.
This is a picture of my camping trip. My family and I go camping at Alice Lake every summer.
This is important to me because I love the outdoors and this is a time my whole family spends together.
ATVing is also important to me. I used to like biking but now I'm into ATVing. Because I'm a bit older and stronger, I can steer and ride the ATV, but my Mom says I still need to be careful.
I like nature because it's quiet and open. Getting fresh air is important.
I come from a family of hunters, so we like to spend a lot of time in the wild.
I remember when I couldn't light a fire, so my brother's friend showed me a trick. You have to get the smallest twigs and "witches" hair from the trees and light that first. Then you can add small pieces of wood and then sticks.
When I need advice I talk with my grandma and grandpa. They help me to think about the things that sometimes I forget about.
I also spend time with my mom and my brother playing games.
My uncle and I go fishing together once every year.
My best friends have been in school with me since Kindergarten. We like a lot of the same things like rock collecting so I feel connected to them.
