Calculating Amounts from Percentages

I'm getting better at understanding how to calculate values when given percentages.

In this example, you need to multiply 22,000,000 x ( 2 / 100 ) = 440,000

I can use this to determine how much money I'll save on Boxing Day sales.

Calculating Area

I've learned how to calculate the areas of triangles, rectangles, and squares.

Squares and Rectangles Areas = Base x Height

Triangles Area = 1/2 x Base x Height

It's important to know how to calculate area if you are planning to fence your yard.

Number Lines

I am learning the number line. I find it hard when the teacher draws it on the board, so I use Khan Academy online to watch videos on number lines.

Strengths

I enjoy math and am good with numbers. Numbers make sense to me.

I use numbers to help me when I'm geocaching.

Stretches

I want to get better at graphing using my calculator.

Interests

I really like Scratch. It's an online programming app that let's you program cool games. You need to use a lot of math, especially positive and negative numbers.

"Next Steps"

I'm going to try to create my own app using what I learned in programming in Scratch. I'm hoping to make an app that will help people recycle.
