OHdio (CBC audio) has an extensive selection of audio books (picture books, novels, essays, poetry...) from Quebec authors. It is free and the website is very easy to navigate.

The Fable Cottage is a website designed to give beginner French learners an opportunity to read and listen to traditional French (and, some new) stories. There are video, and audio options to choose from. Scroll further down and you'll find the French text with options for English translations (just click on the icons). The original website is called The French Experiment (see link above) and has since grown to include more books and languages.
There are quite a few free books but a subscription fee will be required to access the newer books. Simple, fun and easy to use! Great for kids (and adults) aged 4+.

The Story Playr has French books for various ages. There are some free samples and but most will require a subscription fee. What differntiates this site from the other is that the books are categorized by theme (example, nature, social-emotions etc.) and there are actitivities and audio options for each book.
Storybooks Canada is part of Global Storybooks and is a free multinlingual literacy rsource for language teachers and learners of all ages. It has Level 1 and 2 books aimed towards beginner French (language) students. The pages are colourful with one sentence per page making the experience simple and easy for the reader. Storybooks Canada is very inclusive featuring stories and books from different cultures.
