What is Infinity?
Also called Differentiation, this program reaches the population of students who are excelling in the general education classroom and would benefit from a deeper level of learning.
This is not a gifted program.
Who does this include?
The Infinity Reading and Math program services students who are currently in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades.
How does a child qualify?
A child who is performing above his/her peers in the general education classroom.
The data we are using includes: your child’s performance in the classroom with Eureka assessments, as well as work habit skills and SEL skills. In addition, we include iReady scores.
Continued participation in this program will depend on your child’s academic performance, ongoing assessment scores, capability of balancing classroom and Infinity expectations, and commitment to the program. Lombard School District 44 has the best interest of your child when placing students. If your student is exhibiting a strain to complete expectations with this program, it may be recommended that your student exits the program and remains in the general education classroom for their math or reading instruction.

When do classes meet?
Students will meet in the Infinity teacher's classroom during that grade level intervention block.
What do we do?
Students will be challenged with more in-depth problem based learning in Math. Rigorous learning takes place and involves in-depth and thorough explanations of student thought process in solving math problems, above grade level challenge problems and real-world problem solving experiences.
In Reading, students will use novel studies to dive deeper into grade level (and higher) standards using depth of knowledge. This could include author's craft and comparing themes, author's writing style, etc. while reading 2 novels in a trimester.
DOK Level 3 and 4 focus.
Who provides the grades for students?
Math: Infinity teacher ONLY.
Reading: Primarily Classroom teacher with some Infinity teacher collaboration.
What is DOK (depth of knowledge)?
The level of understanding required to answer a question or perform an activity.
