Program Schedule

Awaken Nature Education is a linear program that runs from September to June each year.
Students can remain in the Awaken program from their year of entry until graduation in grade 12.

Weekly Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 3:00 pm

Students at AIAO complete core courses (numeracy, literacy, etc.) through cross-curricular, multi-age classes.
Awaken uses the BC curriculum and all students can graduate from Awaken with a BC Dogwood Diploma.

Students are enrolled in Fulton Secondary and attend all their courses within the Awaken program. Courses at Awaken are offered with an environmental, nature-based, and Indigenous education lens.

Grade 7 - 9 students complete a standard set of courses including:

Grade 10 - 12 students have more choices in how they direct their education, particularly within the electives they choose. Typically, grade 10 - 12 students in Awaken complete a course schedule as depicted below.

*Electives for students in grades 10, 11 and 12 depend on student interest and the direction they take in their education.
**For grade 11 & 12 students who have demonstrated an ability to learn independently, a collaboration with V-Learn is available for select courses (Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Calculus).
