The Awaken Program focuses on:

Student-Driven Education: Learners take the lead in designing and managing their own projects, fostering autonomy and responsibility.

Expert Connections: Students collaborate with industry professionals, gaining authentic insights and mentorship.

Core Competencies: Builds critical thinking, communication, and collaboration skills aligned with BC’s curriculum goals.

Real-World Impact: Projects address real challenges, preparing students for post-secondary education and future careers.

Courses:
Grade 7 - 9 students complete a standard set of courses, including:

Math, Science, English, PHE, Social Studies, Art, ADST, and Careers.

Grade 10 - 12 students have more choices in how they direct their education, particularly within the electives they choose. Typically, grade 10 - 12 students in Awaken complete a course schedule as depicted below.

Grade 10-12

English First Peoples, Environmental Science, Social Studies, Workplace Math, Career Life Education, PHE/Outdoor Ed, Leadership*, Elective**

*Electives for students in grades 10, 11 and 12 depend on student interest and the direction they take in their education.
**For grade 11 & 12 students who have demonstrated an ability to learn independently, a collaboration with V-Learn is available for select courses (Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Calculus).
