Program Courses
Awaken Inquiry & Adventure Okanagan is a linear program that runs from September to June each year.
Students can remain in the Awaken program from their year of entry until graduation in grade 12.
Weekly Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 3:00 pm
Awaken students are enrolled in Fulton Secondary and attend all their courses within the Awaken program. Courses at Awaken are offered with an environmental, nature-based, and Indigenous educational lens.
Grade 7 - 9 students complete a standard set of courses including:
Math, Science, English, PHE, Social Studies, Art, ADST, and Careers.
Grade 10 - 12 students have more choices in how they direct their education, particularly within the electives they choose. Typically, grade 10 - 12 students in Awaken complete a course schedule as depicted below.
Grade 10
English First Peoples 10, Science 10, Social Studies 10, Workplace Math 10, Career Life Education 10, PHE 10, Studio Art 10*, Food Studies 10*
Grade 11
English First Peoples 11, Environmental Science 11**, Social Studies 11, Workplace Math 11**, Interpersonal Relationships 11, Active Living 11, Outdoor Education 11, Studio Art 11*
Grade 12

*Electives for students in grades 10, 11 and 12 depend on student interest and the direction they take in their education.
**For grade 11 & 12 students who have demonstrated an ability to learn independently, a collaboration with V-Learn is available for select courses (Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Calculus).
