"We've loved having Stationers' here at Outward Bound in Aberdovey. They've shown great team spirit and worked well with all of our instructors. We look forward to welcoming and working with the groups coming here next week."
In module 3 year 8 students will have the opportunity to engage in an Outdoor Education trip to the Outward Bound Centre in Aberdovey, Wales, LL35 0RA.
The experience will be a fantastic opportunity for pupils to engage in a wide range of activities that can include; canoeing, sea kayaking, rock climbing, hiking, camping and many more. Such a wide range of events means that we are able to be flexible with the timetable and select activities that are weather, challenge and ability appropriate. This will be an avenue for pupils to not only have new experiences but also to challenge themselves and develop important life skills.
Throughout the week students will work in groups of 12, participating in a wide range of adventurous activities led by highly experienced leaders including an overnight expedition which is a great introduction for anyone considering participating in the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award in year 9.
For 2022/23 the trip will be on the weeks of 16 January and 23 January, both of these trips are currently at capacity, however, for further information or to be added to the waiting list please contact Mr Spark (joe.spark@scwa.org.uk).
Further information about Outward Bound and the Aberdovey Centre, food, accomodation, activities and more can be found below.
Due to the tailored nature of the courses, the programme is decided on the day to allow best use of weather, and maximum focus on the needs of the group. This sample programme provides a good idea of what your course might look like.
In advance of the trip you will need to complete a Participant Information Form. The Participant Information Form provides Outward Bound with the information they need to ensure that all participants are fit to take part, as well as support us to understand their individual needs and identify things like dietary requirements. By completing this form you are sharing this information directly with Outward Bound. Support on the completion of this form can be found here. If the form is not complete by the deadline then a student will be unable to attend the trip.
Below you will find copies of useful documents and information that you will need in advance of the trip.
Kit list - this provides guidance as to what equipment will be required, students will NOT need to bring a sleeping bag/duvet as bedding will be provided by the centre.
