Frequently Asked Questions
How many chaperones are needed for the field trip?
Grades TK - 2 may bring 4 - 5 chaperones including the teacher for one class (30 students max).
Grades 3 - 5 may bring 3-4 chaperones including the teachers for one class (30 students max).
Grades 6 - 12 only need teachers and paraeducators join the field trip.
What should I bring on the field trip?
sunscreen and hat
closed toed shoes and comfortable clothes
water bottle, bagged lunch
Will students and I have an area to eat lunch?
The Nature Area has picnic tables & grassy area for students, teachers and adults to eat lunch.
The District Farm has two locations with picnic tables - one location is near the main gate & the other location is in the Farm Camp/Youth Garden area.
Will students have access to bathrooms?
The Nature Area is 'on' Peterson Middle School's campus so students and chaperones have access to student and staff bathrooms.
The District Farm has a portable toilet close to main gate and near the Farm Camp/Youth Garden area.
How long are field trips?
The duration of the Nature Area field trip is 1.5 hours including the lunch time.
If teachers choose the combination of the Nature Area and the Farm field trips, the duration is 3 hours including the lunch time.
The duration of the Farm Visit field trip is 1.5 hours including a snack break.
