Welcome back students and parents/guardians!
I am excited to meet you all and to get started on our mathematical journey together.
My name is Mrs. Martin and I start in SCUSD in 1988/89 teaching math. I have taught K-12 teachers at CSUS and supported K-12 teachers in Math and Science (both locally and statewide) prior to teaching at Miwok (formerly Sutter Middle School) in 2008. Engaging students in mathematical discussions is one of my favorite parts of teaching students. Hearing what you are thinking and the connections being made, exploring, struggling, and persevering are all a part of our daily tasks. If you work hard and give 100%, you will be successful and I promise to give 110% to assist you.
You will be introduced to applying the foundational skills in this class. My goal is to help you to be as prepared as possible for success, as you continue your mathematical journey into 8th grade and high school.
In addition to teaching, I am involved with the VFW Nisei Post Auxiliary 8985 (honoring my father who was a member of the 442nd Infantry in WWII) and Delta Kappa Gamma - Alpha Eta Chapter (women educators). In my spare time, I love to play golf, work in the yard and garden, and spend time with family and friends, especially my grandsons, Waylon (6 yrs) Ryker (3.5 yrs) and Dutton (18 months) .
