You will most often hear this class referred to as your "core" class, and that's simply because you're in the same classroom for two periods. One period will be designated for Language Arts and the other will be for History. If you happen to be in my "split core" class, then you will only have me as a teacher for one period--and that's History this year.
What should you expect this year? For one, expect to be challenged. Seventh graders often say that this is the year they learned how to really study (I actually use the word "practice" in my class) and how important organization is. This year you'll fine tune your analysis skills, learn to prove your answers with evidence and explanations, and inevitably grow in your confidence. Expect to work in groups, as well as independently, be prepared to dress up and act silly at times, and get ready to have fun! Yes, this class will be tough, but I can guarantee you'll laugh a lot while you're here!
This year we'll focus on the content areas of reading comprehension, writing, vocabulary, spelling, and grammar (my FAVORITE 💜).
The main focus of our history curriculum will be the medieval civilizations of Europe, China, Africa, Japan, and the Americas.
