Well hello there ... I'm Nancy Scarton. I'm the instructor for the Somerset County Technology Center Computer Networking class. I started teaching here in the 2009-2010 school year. I completed my Voc-Ed ll certification for teaching. As for industry certifications, I have several, the most familiar ones being the CompTIA A+ and Net+, which are both lifetime certifications. I also have my CompTIA Security+, CISCO CCDA, Google Educator Level 1, ETA Fiber Optic Installer, Sumitomo Fusion Splicer and several Career Safe and TestOut certifications. I always encourage my students to get as many certifications as they can. At SCTC, I chair the school Safety Committee. I'm also the Lead SkillsUSA Advisor, chair 3 PA State competitions and I'm on the Technical Committee and Judge for the National SkillsUSA Information Technology Services competition.
This is a program students from surrounding school districts can send 10th, 11th and 12th grade students that are interested in learning about computers. Students coming here will learn about computer repairs, computer maintenance and building, maintaining and securing computer networks. Students here can take many industry certifications.
