Dual Enrollment allows students to be dually enrolled at both the high school and college, earning high school and college credit simultaneously. Any courses/grades received by SHS from a college will be posted to the student's transcript and will affect GPA regardless of final grade.

Be in the grades 10-12
Have 2.0 or greater GPA for CACC Career Tech courses
Have 2.5-3.0 or greater GPA for any academic courses (dependent on college requirement)
Have signed approval from counselor or principal to participate
Complete enrollment procedures with the high school AND college
Do not register for a dual enrollment without receiving permission from the guidance counselor.
If the course is offered at a location outside of the SHS building, the student is responsible for transportation. The parent will sign a permission form and waiver for the student to leave the SHS campus for these courses.
STUDENTS AND PARENTS/GUARDIANS WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYING TUITION, BOOKS, FEES, AND ANY ADDITIONAL COST ASSOCIATED WITH THE COURSE(S) DIRECTLY TO THE COLLEGE BY THEIR DEADLINES. SHS HOLDS NO LIABILITY OF TUITION AND COST FOR DUAL ENROLLMENT. PLEASE CHECK WITH THE COLLEGE ABOUT COST AND DEADLINES.
Students who fail to maintain a "C" or better in all attempted courses or who withdraw from a course will be suspended from the program for a minimum of one semester.
NOTE: The University of Alabama requires an Orientation course the semester or summer prior to actual enrollment in courses. This course is a 2.0 credit elective course and requires tuition payment.
