The school counselors at Sylacauga High School believe:
All students can achieve and be successful learners.
Every student is valuable and should be respected.
All students will have access and will be provided school counseling services by certified school counselors.
All students deserve a safe and nurturing environment.
School counselors should pursue opportunities to develop professionally to ensure a quality school counseling program.
The school counseling department can always be improved through needs assessments, systematic reviews, and evaluation of data.
The mission of the Sylacauga High school counseling program is to prepare graduates who are ready for college, career, and community success. Through collaboration with families and our community, students will have equitable access to opportunities to gain an understanding of self and others, to participate in educational and career planning opportunities in an environment that is safe, caring, and encouraging. As advocates and leaders, the comprehensive counseling program inspires and encourages all students to develop and enhance their academic, social, career, and personal strengths in order to become productive citizens.
The vision of the Sylacauga High School Counseling Program is for ALL students to have the knowledge and skills necessary to achieve academic, social/emotional, and career success, and the resilience and grit to reach their fullest potential as respectful, responsible members of their community.
