Student Code of Conduct:
Academic Performance:
In order to compete, Scholar Gamers must have a minimum 2.0 Grade Point Average (GPA) to be eligible to compete, and above (no D’s or F’s) with all assigned classes. A grade of failure will result in expulsion from the team. The grade of D allows the Scholar Gamer to attend and participate in practices but he/she cannot compete until the grade has been raised to a C or better.
Class Attendance:
Scholar Gamers must attend all of their scheduled classes in order to participate in practice or contest on the same day. If the principal or their designee grants an excused absence in advance for the pre-scheduled activity or an unforeseen emergency, the Scholar Gamer may participate on that day. Chronic tardiness to class can result in the suspension of play or expulsion from the team.
Disciplinary Actions:
Scholar Gamers are subject to suspension, and possibly expulsion for inappropriate behaviors in the classroom. Participating in the Suwannee Middle School Esports program is a privilege that can be granted and taken away. The Scholar Gamer will represent his or her team everywhere they go in a professional manner, starting first within the classroom.
In / Out of School Suspension:
Scholar Gamer may not participate if he or she is serving an in-school or out-of-school suspension. The Scholar Gamer becomes eligible to participate on the next school day following the noted suspension.
Team Practice Attendance:
Scholar Gamers are not allowed to miss more than three (3) unexcused practices. Failure to comply will result in a one-game suspension, then two-game suspension, then finally expulsion from the team. Scholar Gamers who have prior commitments on scheduled practice days must contact the coach(es).
Probation:
Scholar Gamers who violate these policies may be placed on a probation period with established goals to maintain academic or behavioral responsibilities to the esports club or to classes.
Scholar Gamers may be released by the decision of the Club Coach(es) if the Scholar Gamer is found in repeated violation of this charter or the student code of conduct.
