About me...
I graduated from Emory & Henry College with a B.A. in Mass Communications/Journalism. After working in marketing and advertising for 17 years and owning and operating a printing and design marketing company, I sold my business and took a year off to spend more time with my son, Zac.
In 2012, I began substitute teaching at Chilhowie Middle School and quickly realized my passion for education. I decided to take additional coursework at the University of Virginia (Wise) to become certified to teach middle school English. After completing the coursework, Praxis, and other examinations and requirements, I obtained certification and licensure to teach middle school English. My goal as an educator is to help students see their strengths, foster a growth mindset, and be a positive influence in their lives.
This fall, my son will be a junior at Bluefield University in Bluefield, Virginia, where he will play basketball.
I enjoy spending time outdoors, spending time with friends and family, reading, and encouraging others.
