No special materials or fees required for either of these classes.
Regular keyboarding practice for all three grades using proper technique at home is strongly encouraged, but not required. Practice at home will make a big difference in a student's retention of keyboarding skill.
Mrs. Surber's Top Ten Keyboarding Principles:
One theme is recurrent in all three grade level courses: keyboarding skill. Consider this:
Proper technique is a basic necessity for touch typing.
Proper technique leads to accuracy.
Once you achieve accuracy, with enough practice, you will build speed.
Keyboarding is a motor skill like learning an instrument or a sport. It doesn't happen instantly and it requires practice and time.
How much you increase your skill depends on how much you work at it the right way.
These same principles also apply to learning to use speech recognition.
You will never regret having learned to type efficiently!
