Tues, March 4: PROJECT PLANNING DAY: Students finish large insect initial drawing in their sketchbook. Students check drawing with teacher. Students should number the different parts/pieces. Students should then make a thumbnail of their insect in their sketchbook and color it, making notes about what techniques they will use where, which pieces will be the most elevated, what papers they will use where (cut and glue little swatches in sketchbook.) etc. HW: Paper Sculpture Study Guide (including crossword) due on test day Friday, March 21.

Tues, February 25: Grade Vertumnus. Pass out Canson Bugs, Envelopes, Detail scissors, and bone folders. Students should put their name, period, and teacher on their envelope. Students cut out canson bug pieces. Go over scissor/cutting technique: have them cut out the entire bug (possibly including the holes in the wings, or emboss the holes in the wings). Wed, February 26: Early Release. Students work on Practice Project. Finish embossing/debossing techniques. Thur, February 27: Go over fringe/texturing techniques: have students fringe antennas. Go over curling: have students curl the plain wings. Lastly have students decorate the bug in some way either with cut outs, quilling, embossing, spiral, weaving, or torn pieces. Students finish and submit for grading.
