Week 9: September 22-26

Mon, September 15:   Sketchbook Check: Figure drawings from last week.  Introduce Pastel Practice Project. Students begin sketching their masterwork on the practice paper.  HW:  Study Guide due on Test Day Thursday 9.25.

Tues, September 16:   Brief Pastel demo as needed.  Students continue finish their portrait onto small, sanded paper.  Once they get approval, they can move on to pastel.  HW: Study Guide due on Test Day Thursday 9.25.

Wed, September 17: Early Release.  Students should be working on pastel on their practice project.  Will be due Monday, by the end of class.   HW: Study Guide due on Test Day Thursday 9.25.

Thur, September 18:  Collect all Study Guides.  Students Take Tests.  When finished they can work on their practice project.  If students are taking pictures they can finish their test on the following day.  If they finish early, they can work on their practice project.  HW: None.

Fri, September 19:   Students should be working on pastel on their practice project.  Will be due Monday, by the end of class.  HW:  None.

Week 8: September 15-19

Mon, September 15:   Sketchbook Check: drawings from last week, research spread, all photo references.  Review how to draw a hand draw with me lesson.  Students draw hand from reference packet.  HW:  Study Guide for next test (including crossword) due on Test day:  Thursday 25th.

Tues, September 16:   Students begin planning for their masterwork project by gridding their photo and good paper.  HW: Study Guide for next test (including crossword) due on Test day:  Thursday 25th.

Wed, September 17: Early Release.  Students finish gridding out on both their papers.  Students start to sketch their preliminary portrait drawing on their good paper.  This should include planar analysis!   HW: Study Guide for next test (including crossword) due on Test day:  Thursday 25th.

Thur, September 18:  Students continue to sketch their preliminary drawing on good paper, including planar analysis of everything.  HW: Study Guide for next test (including crossword) due on Test day:  Thursday 25th.

Fri, September 19:   Students finish sketching their preliminary drawing on good paper, including planar analysis of everything.  HW:  Study Guide for next test (including crossword) due on Test day:  Thursday 25th.

Week 7: September 8-12

Mon, September 8:   Sketchbook Check: Chameleon.  Go over homework assignment with discussion and examples.  Go over masterwork project with discussion and examples.  Students choose masterwork.  Make sure student knows their artist and what size to make their final printed photo and masterwork in color!!  HW:  Artist Research and masterwork references due Monday, September 15.  Study for Quiz next Thursday, 9.11 on Watercolor and Pen Terms.

Thur, September 11:  Quiz.  Continue ¾ view face and finish.   HW: Artist Research and masterwork references due Monday, September 15.  

Fri, September 12:   Blazer Ceremony and Assembly Schedule.  Introduce Profile face.  Start hands if time.  HW:  Artist Research and masterwork references due Monday, September 15.

Weeks 5: September 1-5

Tues, September 2: Project Work Time Continued:  Inking and Painting.  HW: Chameleon Tuesday, September 9th.  NO SHADING OR SMUDGING!  All mark-making in graphite.

Tues, August 26: Go over how to write for the study guide.  Project Work Time Continued:  Inking.  HW: Study Guides (including crossword puzzle) due Thursday: 8.28 Test Day.  Study for your test!

Wed, August 27: Project Work Time Continued:  Inking.  HW: Study Guides (including crossword puzzle) due Thursday: 8.28 Test Day.  Study for your test!

Thur, August 28:  Students take Test and study guides are collected.  When Finished, they can work on their projects.  HW: None.

Fri, August 29:   Project Work Time Continued:  Inking.  Some students might begin Watercolor.  HW: None (No School Monday: R&R Weekend!)

Weeks 4: August 18-22

Mon, August 18: Sketchbook check: Natural History Homework.  Introduce Ink and Practice project.  HW: Cassowary drawing due Monday, 25.  Tonight drawing step 1.  All mark-making in graphite.  NO shading!  Showcase atmospheric perspective.

Mon, August 11: Sketchbook check: hummingbird, whale, lion, handouts.  Go over the details of how to plan for the project and have students work on their plans with thumbnails and notes.  HW: Natural History Homework Due Monday 18.  Tonight: All basic shapes on drawings.  Drawing Steps and Composition Quiz Thursday 8.14.

Tues, August 12: Continued project work time with opportunities to “pitch” ideas and get approval to move on to final paper.  HW: Natural History Homework Due Monday 18.  Tonight: All Basic Shapes on Drawings.  Drawing Steps and Composition Quiz Thursday 8.14.

Wed, August 13: Review for Quiz tomorrow!  Continued project work time.  Students should begin their light pencil layout on good paper.  HW: Natural History Homework Due Monday 18.  Tonight: All More Specifics on Drawings.  Drawing Steps and Composition Quiz Thursday 8.14.  

Thur, August 14:  Take Quiz.  Continued project work time.  Students should continue light pencil layout on good paper, they should work on clear outlines and very light planar analysis.  HW: Natural History Homework Due Monday 18.  Tonight: All value and detail on drawings.
