Students continue their practice project preliminary drawing and finish (measuring value scales and drawing animal through step 3). If they finish early, they can transfer. HW: Cow due Monday 9/15. Art Class Mantras: #1 "Lightly and Loosely" referring to how we hold our pencil and how we sketch. #2 "Trust the Process" referring to trusting and using the 4 drawing steps faithfully and trusting that anyone can draw!
CHIAROSCURO: High contrast value, like Caravaggio and Rembrandt use.
POINTILLISM: Stippling with different colored dots, like Seurat.
NARCISSUS: A mythical figure who fell in love with himself. Caravaggio painted him.
COLLAGE: A work of art made from colorful paper cut outs glued flat. Matisse later did a lot of collage instead of painting, but his earlier paintings look flat like collages too!
